Trends are like everything else. There are often many and they can come and go. These are a few custom home building and design trends that we see happening in 2016 for various reason.
All About Open Spaces. An open floor plan may start sounding familiar, but it’s more than just a young demographic looking for this layout, so you’ll increasingly see this in traditional single-family suburban homes in 2016.
Porcelain floors. Yes, floors. If you’re going to go with imitation wood, porcelain is a good go-to. It’s less expensive and wears as well as or better than the real thing. Although we certainly enjoy installing the look of a nice real wood, Porcelain is available in various colors and textures, including one-color combos with slight variations for a hint of differentiation. Think about use in high-traffic rooms and hallways.
Outdoor living. More and more people are iterested in spending time outdoors, especially in North Carolina. We are seeing more and more options for enhancing your outdoor space, including outdoor fire places, fire pits, small pool options, showers adjacent to pools, hot tubs, and outdoor kitchens. You will also see improvements in perks for pets, such as separately fenced areas, private dog runs and cleaning areas, among others.
